“Asensio… hasn’t got the pace of Ronaldo, oh but he gets the finish of Ronaldo!!!!!!!”

(Sky Sports Spanish Super Cup commentator on Marco Asensio’s stunner v Barcelona at the Camp Nou this August)

Real Madrid are the team full of Galacticos, as they’re called; and hardly anyone gets a place in the team. Well, some humble-looking Spanish prodigy who emerged from Castilla certainly has come up with performances (and some firecrackers), and he’s given Real head coach Zizou some headache. The question is, can he fill in the shoes of CR7 (well Se Queda will testament to that).?Super Cup commentator Alan Partridge literally lost it on air when he tried commenting on the Spaniard’s hit at the Bernabeu against Barcelona. He’s got such raw talent (and he is just 21).  Kylian Lottin Sanmi, move over. We know this man as Marco Asensio.

There wasn’t any fuss about him back when he was in Espanyol back in the 15/16 campaign, but now he’s in the big leagues: we’re seeing and feeling the fuss. He has scored in every competition he’s played in for Real Madrid (and debut goal making highly-rated Sevilla goalie Sergio Rico claw thin air), and anytime he plays: there’s this imperious confidence he has about him, and a mixture of pace and power. Losing finalist to Der Mannschaft in this year’s U-21 Euro Championships, but he took centre-stage; with match-winning display after match-winning display. That reminds us of a certain someone (you know who). Depending on the transfers which come in and go, and also Zidane’s willingness to give him more playing time, Madridistas may not be missing Cristiano too  much when he’s gone (we know he’s not leaving anytime soon).

Talk about hands-off: after his performances against arch-rivals Football Club Barcelona, Club President Florentino Perez increased his buyout clause to a staggering 500 million Euros. Il est à nous, Monsieur QSI. We’ve all just have to wait and see, and get ourselves together (that’s if you’re Gareth Bale). As it stands, he is the next big thing to Cristiano in Santaigo Yeste’s park.
